Our story
Founded by a husband and wife, HYGGE brings people together over quality coffee and feel-good brunch. Inspired by cosy, Scandinavian living, it’s a space to switch off, catch up, and stay a while.
When we first started HYGGE, we had a pretty simple idea in mind.
We wanted to create a spacious coffee shop that felt genuinely warm and welcoming, with really good food and drink at its heart.
A place where you can order a triple shot decaf skinny hazelnut latte without any judgement.
Where you can sit for hours without feeling like you need to order something else.
Somewhere you can kick back, relax, maybe even put your feet up, and feel completely at home.
Most importantly, a place where everyone feels welcome, safe, and cosy.
As we explored what that feeling really meant, we came across the Danish way of living, and instantly fell in love with it.
There’s a word the Danes use: hygge. It’s about warmth, comfort, togetherness, and creating moments that just feel good.
We’re not a Danish business, just inspired by it. But we’ve tried to bring a little bit of that feeling into everything we do.
And we hope it’s somewhere you can feel it too.
HYGGE'S MISSION
Our team are encouraged to prioritise service above everything else. At the end of each night, if we have made one persons day, or left a lasting impact on a customer, we have done our job well.
We haven’t reinvented the wheel - great coffee shops existed long before we arrived. But if we can add a ripple of positivity to the pool of life, we’ll sleep well each night knowing that we’ve done our bit.
